Biography
Personal
George and his family left Atlanta in 2000 after living there for 20 years and moved to Henrico County, Virginia. He spent
his first 6 years here working for a locally based credit card company with roles in Finance, HR and IT. Previously he held
senior finance management positions with a major telecom provider for 13 years, as well as management positions in start-up
businesses when he and his wife were starting their family.
George and Julie were married in 1983. Daughter Brittany and son Lee brought more sunshine into their lives along the
way.
Education
After completing his BA studies at Georgia State University, George earned a masters degree in international business
from Mercer University in 1994.
Business
In 2006, Marchenko founded Marchenko Enterprises, Inc., a business and technology consulting firm
Politics
In 2005 he partnered with the Henrico Taxpayers Union to oppose the defeated Prepared Meals Tax, arguing that the tax
was simply a way for the county to get their hands into the pockets of non-Henrico citizens.
